New York Style for 'Kendra's Night Out'

Some days ago I was contacted by travel Guru Kendra Thornton and she was asking me for the challenge to create her 'Kendra's Night Out' New York-style. I was completely fascinated of this task, but before arriving to my styling proposals, I'd like to introduce you Kendra's bio for more to know of her very interesting career.

 About Kendra

Kendra Thornton is a travel advocate, TV spokesperson, PR businesswoman. Kendra has been packing her bags and traveling the world since she visited the Bahamas at 3 months old. She comes from a family of travel agents and founded Thornton Public Relations LLC in April 2005. Kendra also appears regularly as a travel expert on ABC, CBS, NBC and CW affiliates across the country to share travel trends, tips and deals with millions of viewers every year. Actually she lives in Chicago where her family is her number one priority in everyday life.

Prior to starting her own business, Kendra was the Director of Corporate Communications at Orbitz.com, one of the nation’s largest travel agencies. In this role, Ms. Thornton was responsible for the company’s external communications strategy and program execution. With a proven background as a creative and results oriented media strategist, Ms. Thornton successfully planned and executed public relations campaigns for Orbitz that covered new product/service launches, crisis communications, executive positioning and brand and product marketing communications for business, trade and consumer audiences.

Kendra grew up in the travel industry with parents who own Royal Travel & Tours, the largest travel agency chain in north central Illinois. The family business afforded her the opportunity to travel the world and experience first-hand the evolution of the industry – from OAG being the single source for airline schedules to airlines first cutting commissions to the birth of the Internet for booking travel.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in English and French from Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. She’s active in a number of professional and philanthropic organizations, including the Society of American Travel Writers, Young Professionals of Chicago and the Junior League of Chicago. Actually Kendra lives in Chicago where her family is her number one priority in everyday life.

So, Kendra was asking me ...
"I don’t need anyone to give my regards to Broadway because I’ll be traveling to New York City myself soon. A group of friends and I will be spending a few fun days in the Big Apple, and I’ve had a ball planning for our trip. I’ve chosen to book our stay at the luxurious Dream New YorkCity hotel, and I know we’re going to have all kinds of fun together there. Before we leave, I need some help from you.

New York City is famous for fashion, and I don’t want to step out on a night in the Big Apple without looking absolutely gorgeous in the latest styles. As a mom of three kids living in the Midwest, I could certainly use some fashion tips before my trip.

The Bar at Dream New York City - When staying at a trendy Midtown hotel like Dream New York City, you don’t have to go out in order to enjoy a night on the town. One evening during our visit, my group of friends plans to enjoy some time relaxing, drinking and people watching at The Bar. Located in our luxurious hotel, this lounge, reminiscent of a classic Midtown Manhattan bar, features comfortable elegance and sleek finishings accented by the occasional well-placed antic. Perhaps we’ll while away the hours drinking at the marble-top bar as we watching the city pass by outside The Bar’s windows. We’ll definitely enjoy selecting drinks from the Beer Manual, which features traditional favorites as well as a full selection of craft beers. The two huge flat-screen televisions in The Bar make this a perfect place to catch a big game as well, and if the munchies strike, guests can order decadent tapas or light small plates to go with their drinks.
Like every world city, New York City has its own unique style, but few cities hold as much sway over global fashion trends as the Big Apple does. That's why I'm super excited to be getting your expert advice concerning what fashions I should sport on a night out in New York." - Kendra Thornton

Kendra's first look is out of one of my favourite American designer-duo KAUFMANFRANCO, the newest collection for Fall/Winter '14/15 which is actually only to get by order.  But, this amazing collection deserves to be mentioned here as an edgy New York-Style.

'KAUFMANFRANCO Fall/Winter 2014/15'

KAUFMANFRANCO's mix of sophistication and edge, luxury and function, handcrafted and high-tech offers up a body conscious sensuality as complex and provocative as the modern woman they dress.
"Although our aesthetic is trained in a similar way, interestingly enough, it is always the tension between us that pushes us creatively," says Isaac Franco.
